The Keddie Murders

On April 11, 1981 three grisly murders were committed in Cabin #28 of the Keddie Resort in Keddie, California. Glenna Sharp, 36, her 15-year-old son John and 17-year-old family friend Dana Wingate were bludgeoned and stabbed by assailants still unidentified. Sharp's 13-year-old daughter Tina was missing from the scene when the bodies were discovered by 14-year-old Sheila Sharp the following morning. Sheila had been spending the night with a friend. Glenna Sharp's two youngest boys and another boy, toddlers at the time, had been spared and were found safe in another room of the cabin. Ultimately, Tina Sharp's remains were discovered three years later when a bottle digger found parts of her remains 90 miles away near a water fall. The case remains unsolved. * 11/1980 - Sharps move to Plumas County/Keddie
* 04/11/1981 (Afternoon) - Dana and Johnny ask permission from Mr. Doris for Dana to spend the night with Johnny
* 04/11/1981 (? p.m.) - Oakland Camp Party
* 04/11/1981 (? p.m.) - Marilyn Smartt asks Sue Sharp if she would like to go to the Keddie Bar with her, Martin Smartt and John Boubede.
* 04/11/1981 (? p.m.) - Martin Smartt (Marty) and John Boubede (Bo) go to Keddie bar.

* 04/12/1981 (1:00 - 2:00 a.m.) - Marilyn Smartt sees Marty Smartt burning something in the wood stove.
* 04/12/1981 (7:00 a.m.) - Sheila returns home from the Seabolt house to discover the murders
* 04/12/1981 (?7:10ish a.m.) - Neighbor calls Plumas County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD)
* 04/12/1981 (?7:20ish a.m.) - First Deputies arrive on scene, younger Sharp children removed from scene, along with Justin. So all three boys in the back bedroom at this time.
* 04/12/1981 (All Day) - Crime scene cordoned off, investigation begins, neighbors and friends questioned? Justin questioned. Justin insists Tina is missing. Determine that wires used to bound bodies were taken from the room shared by Sue/Sheila/Tina.
* 04/12/1981 (A.M.) - Determined Tina was in Cabin #28 and is now missing, along with “shoebox” that was Tina’s school project? The shoebox was apparently taken from the kitchen.
* 04/12/1981 (10:00 a.m.) - Mr. Doris receives call to identify the body.
* 04/12/1981 (Unknown) - Marty Smartt goes to Keddie.
* 04/12/1981 (5:00 - 6:00 p.m.) - Marty Smartt at Meeks’ house, wanting to go back to Keddie. Mrs. Meeks believe Marty is high on something.
* 04/12/1981 (9:00 p.m.) - Mrs. Meeks talks Marty into staying at the house and not returning to Keddie.
* 04/13/1981 (4:00 a.m.) - Marty leaves Meeks home and presumably returns to Keddie
* 04/13/1981 (Unknown) - Marilyn Smartt questioned? Smartt cabin searched, Clubhouse searched, Tina’s jacket found? Justin’s shoes taken for evidence?
* 04/14/1981 (Unknown) - Justin telling his brother about the crime and demonstrating how to stab. Justin says “I have to protect Sue.” Marty grabs Justin and tells him never to talk about it again.
* Unknown date - Henry Thompson and Chuck Walkee questioned by PCSD, released shortly thereafter.
* Unknown date - Justin under hypnosis. Describes watching Love Boat, describes the “fight.” States Sue “thrown overboard.” Provides description of suspects. Both men wear glasses. One has long hair and moustache, the other has shorter hair and no facial hair.
* Unknown date - Martin Smartt and John Boudee (Bo) picked up for questioning
* Unknown date - PCSD meets Marilyn at the “clubhouse” (small outbuilding near Smartt house). Marilyn notices that the floorboards have been torn up. Marilyn says the floorboards were not that way when she was there on the previous weekend.
* 04/22/1984 - Tina’s remains found at the old location of Camp Eighteen in Butte County. Approximately 105 road miles from the cabin.
* 1996 - Robert Joesph Silveria Jr. confesses to the murders of Sue, John, Dana and Tina. Later he recants his confession.
* 06/26/2000 - Martin Ray Smartt died of cancer in Portland, Oregon.
* 2002 - Memorial service for Tina. Placement of headstone.
* 06/04/2004 - Cabin #28 destroyed
