Watrap is a small village located in
Virudhunagar District,Tamilnadu ,India . Its geographical coordinates are coord|9|38|7|N|77|38|20|E|type:city|display=inline,title. The name Watrap is a corruption of "vatratha iruppu" means surplusage water. The holy uphill shrine "Sundara Mahalingam temple" (also known as thaani paarai, sathuragiri malai) is located here. Aadi amavasai (No Moon Day in the month ofAadi ) is when lot of devotees all over from Tamilnadu throng here. Agriculture is the maineconomy in this place. There are totally 3 Government aided schools and two private schools in here. As a mode of entertainment, there are two cinema theatres. There is a dam here for irrigation and agriculture called "Pilavakal dam"Sundara Mahalingam temple Must see place if you are a nature lover, need to trek for about 5 Hrs to reach the top of the hill, there wont be proper road or restroom or any facility. Free lunch will be served on no moon days, You get to see dense forest, water falls and undisturbed nature on the way. One should be there at the foot hills by early in the morning, so that you can return back before sunset, as it is not a very safe place to stay uphills.

Srivilliputtur . There are several passenger trains fromMadurai to Srivilliputtur. Pothigai Express is a daily train fromChennai toTenkasi that reaches Srivilliputtur at 6.13 in the morning. From Srivilliputtur you can take a local bus to Watrap.
