Walter Paul Siebercite web|url=http://slam.canoe.ca/SlamWrestlingBios/vonerich.html|title=Canadian Hall of Fame: Waldo von Erich|publisher=SLAM! Wrestling|accessdate=2008-04-03] (born October 2 1933) was a Canadian professional wrestler under the ring name Waldo Von Erich. He was billed as the brother of Fritz Von Erich, but was not actually related to him or the rest of the Von Erich family. The height of his success was in the 1960s and 1970s. In the mid-1980s, Lance Von Erich was billed as his son, but that relationship was also fictional.

Career

Walter Sieber was born in Toronto on October 2 1933. He trained as a professional wrestler with Red Garner at a local YMCA. He also was into bodybuilding, swimming, and weight training. At the age of seventeen, Sieber became a professional wrestler.

He began his career in Calgary, wrestling for Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling. He later met Jack Adkisson, his storyline brother, and they held the NWA American Tag Team Championship in 1967. As a von Erich, Sieber's gimmick was that of a German heel.

Sieber, now using the ringname Waldo von Erich, also had success as a singles wrestler. He worked in singles matches for the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF). As a part of the WWWF, von Erich wrestled Bruno Sammartino for the WWWF Championship. After his WWWF run, he continued to have success as a singles and tag team wrestler, holding championships in various promotions.

After attempting a retirement in 1973, Sieber finally retired in 1979. After his retirement from in-ring action, Sieber became the president of the ICW, where he trains young professional wrestlers. He has trained such wrestlers as Eric Young and Eddie Osbourne.

Personal life

With the money he earned from his professional wrestling career, Sieber bought a lake in Ontario. He also built a castle in Belize.

Sieber also invented a medical device, which he sold to several professional sports teams and used to provide therapy to those with back problems.

He was married for twenty-nine years before he got a divorce. He has three daughters from that marriage.
