She represented the GDR (East Germany) in the ladies events at international championships and in
1980 became theOlympic Champion , as well as world champion in1978 and 1980. She also won the European title four times, from1977 to 1980. Her coach wasJutta Müller .Pötzsch was married to Axel Witt, the brother of
Katarina Witt . The couple has a child namedClaudia Rauschenbauch . She also became a German figure skating champion, but in pair skating.Anett Pötzsch's second husband was
Axel Rauschenbach , a former German champion inpair skating , who became thestepfather of Claudia.Pötzsch works now as a coach in Chemnitz, Germany. She is also an international judge for figure skating and an ISU technical specialist. She was interested in participating in shows after her amateur career, but that was impossible due to the political system in East Germany at the time.
Her first name is sometimes incorrectly spelled "Annett." The old East German newspapers always spelled it with a single 'n'.
