Born in
Lawrence, Kansas Deakyne was raised inArlington, Texas . She graduated from Arlington High School in 1993 and went on to graduate with a B.A. inPolitical science from theUniversity of Texas at Arlington in 1998. She received her commission as a
Second Lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corps on December 12, 1998. Upon graduation from the Adjutant General Officer Basic Course atFort Jackson, South Carolina , CPT Deakyne was assigned as the Chief of Personnel Actions and Strength Manager for the 2d Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Polk, Louisiana. She then served as the Group S1 for the US Army Joint Readiness Training Center Operations Group. After completion of the Adjutant General Captains Career Course and the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, CPT Deakyne was assigned to Fort Hood, where she deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division as the Brigade Adjutant. She commanded Charlie Detachment, 15th Personnel Services Battalion in Iraq, and became the Battalion Operations Officer shortly after their redeployment to Fort Hood. After Operations Katrina and Rita, she again deployed with the 15th Personnel Services Battalion and the 1st Cavalry Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08. She currently serves as the Battalion Executive Officer and Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Texas at Arlington.Achievements

As Mrs. U.S. Beauties, Deakyne works in conjunction with the Lupus Foundation of America the National Spokesperson for their “Living with Lupus” program, promoting Research, Education, Awareness, Communication, and Health Care as it relates to Lupus. The LFA is the nation’s leading nonprofit voluntary health organization dedicated to Lupus. Through its over 300 chapters world wide, branches and support groups, the LFA conducts programs of research, education and advocacy.
Deakyne is also a member of the Junior League of Arlington, Texas.
