His most notable role was that of mayor of Porsgrund municipality, a position he held in the years 1863–64, 1866, 1868–69, 1871, 1873, 1875, 1877, 1879, 1881–83 and 1885–90. He alternated with merchant
Niels Mathiesen . As such Møller was vice mayor in 1862 as well as every year up to and including 1884 in which he was not mayor.
