Wyly around 1815 and served as an inn for traveler's on the newly constructed Unicoi Turnpike. In 1833 it was purchased by
Devereaux Jarrett and became the headquarters of his 14,000 acre plantation. It is located very close to the site of the formerCherokee town Tugaloo.Travelers Rest State Historic Site is operated by the State of Georgia.
