USNS Soderman

USNS Soderman

Two ships of the United States Navy have borne the name USNS "Soderman", in honor of PFC William A. Soderman (1912–1980), who was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism during World War II's Battle of the Bulge.

* USS "Soderman" (T-AKR-299) is a "1ST LT Harry L. Martin"-class container & roll-on roll-off cargo ship, built as MV "Lica Maersk" in Denmark, and delivered for commercial service circa 1980. She was acquired by the Navy in 1997 and placed in service under the Military Sealift Command (MSC) as USNS "Soderman" (T-AKR-299). She was renamed USNS "GYSGT Fred W. Stockham" (T-AK-3017) in 2001. Ship fate box active in service.

* USS "Soderman" (T-AKR-317) is a "Watson"-class vehicle cargo ship, launched in 2002. Ship fate box active in service.
