Cassinga Day

Cassinga Day is a national public holiday in Namibia remembering the Battle of Cassinga. Occuring on 4 May yearly, the day "remembers those (approximately 600) [ [http://www.namibian.com.na/2007/April/columns/078C7F3837.html Let's Review Our National Holidays] in The Namibian, 27 April, 2007] killed in 1978 when the South African Defence Force attacked a SWAPO refugee camp at Cassinga in southern Angola". These ceremonies are attended by many important national political figures, including Presidents Hifikepunye Pohamba and Sam Nujoma.
