Jeremy Hutchinson (politician)

Jeremy Hutchinson is an American politician and was a Republican member of the Arkansas House of Representatives.

When he was first elected in March 2000, at the age of 25, he was the youngest member of the Arkansas General Assembly. Hutchinson was subsequently re-elected three times.

Hutchinson served on the Judiciary and Insurance and Commerce committees. He also served as vice-chair of the Joint Energy Committee. He was the assistant minority leader from 2002 to 2004.

In November 2004, Jeremy Hutchinson's identical twin brother, Timothy Hutchinson, was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives, making it the first time that twins have served together in the Arkansas Legislature. Jeremy and Timothy are the sons of former U.S. Senator Tim Hutchinson and nephews of former Congressman and former Undersecretary of Homeland Security, Asa Hutchinson. Jeremy Hutchinson was named to "Arkansas Business"' "40 under 40" in 2002.Fact|date=September 2008 He serves on the board of the Arkansas Council on Economic Education.

In December 1999, Jeremy Hutchinson won the Republican primary nomination for his first election to the Arkansas General Assembly. His competitor for the Republican nomination was Dan Greenberg, who was subsequently elected to the Pulaski County Quorum Court — the county legislature — in 2002 and 2004. In early 2006, as Hutchinson approached the end of his legislative term limit, he endorsed his former competitor Greenberg to succeed him. In May and June 2006, Greenberg won a hotly-contested primary and runoff and was elected to succeed Jeremy Hutchinson in the legislative seat for which the two had previously competed.

Hutchinson's mother, Donna Hutchinson, former Senator Tim Hutchinson's first wife, is now serving in the Arkansas state legislature from Benton County.

Jeremy Hutchinson now works in Little Rock as an attorney with the law firm of Patton, Roberts, McWilliams, & Capshaw LLP.
