Lampe is a Democratic Party member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 138 (central Springfield) since 2004. She currently serves as Minority Caucus Secretary.
Sara Lampe was named as the ranking member of the Budget Committee for 2010. She will be term limited out of office in 2012. She has made no announcements regarding running for higher office.
In the 2010 election, she was the only Democrat [1] in Greene County to retain her seat.

Career in Education
Lampe has taught in Missouri Public Schools since 1971. She began as a teacher, then spent 19 years as the principal of Phelps Center for the Gifted.

Legislative Work
Lampe began the 2010 Legislative Session with legislation honoring famed Jewish civil rights leader Simon Wiesenthal. She is also sponsoring anti-bullying legislation and legislation aimed at preventing traffic accidents due to text messaging drivers.
Future Ambitions
Lampe is currently serving her last term in the Missouri House of Representatives. It is rumored that she could be running for Missouri Lieutenant Governor in 2012. [2]
