Edward King (author)

Edward King was an American author, whose 1875 publication, formally titled "The Great South: A Record of Journeys in Louisiana, Texas, the Indian Territory, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland", [ [http://www.stjohnsriverkeeper.org/river_ArtInspiration.asp St. John's River Keeper] ] is an important historical document with extensive descriptions of African American church music and other subjects. Each section of "The Great South" was published in an issue of "Scribner's Magazine", a popular periodical. [Darden, pg. 113]
