Peter Haynes

Peter Haynes is a New Zealand director of short films and a comic book illustrator. He is mostly known for his short films, most of which deal in some way with obsessive fans of popular culture, but he has also touched on more serious subjects. He also currently writes and illustrates the webcomic "Angels 2200".

Films

;"Fanboys" (2003):A short film (about, naturally, fanboys) which takes place a few days before the opening of "". It is a comedy about obsessive fans and their sometimes tenuous grip on reality.

;"Feel the Force: The Jedi Street Preachers of Auckland" (2004):A non-canon "Star Wars" mockumentary about "Jedi evangelists" attempting to convert non-Jedis in public places with methods such as reciting "The Jedi 10 Commandments" and mock-inspirational songs by "Weird Al" Yankovic. ;"The Flash Man" (2004):Made for the 2004 New Zealand 48 Hour Film Festival, the film is a musical comedy about a pair of washed-up actors from an old action/adventure TV shows coming to terms with their fans and their own identity during a convention appearance.

;"Almost There and Back Again" (2005):A mockumentary about a group of Live action role-playing enthusiasts who embark on a re-enactment of the journey of "The Fellowship of the Ring", as a tribute to both J. R. R. Tolkien for his novel "The Lord of the Rings" and Peter Jackson for his film version thereof. ;"Jungle Fever" (2005):Made for the 2005 New Zealand 48 Hour Film Festival, winning Audience Choice in one of the Auckland heats. [http://www.48hours.co.nz/2005/auckland.php] The film was picked by Peter Jackson as one of the wildcard finalists in the competition, and aired on New Zealand's C4 network during the June 12, 2005 live Grand Final broadcast.

;"Predinator 2" (2007):A mockumentary and sequel to an actual Sci-Fi short made 15 years earlier. The first "Predinator" had the distinction of being one of the first short films a person could download off the internet. "Predinator 2" follows the exploits of filmmaker 'Chris Thompson' (Campbell Cooley) as he attempts to gather the original cast to make a sequel.

; (2007):The original concept of "Jungle Fever" was picked up by New Zealand's Juice TV, to be made into a mini-series of 12 episodes of about 3 minutes each. The show is currently being aired.

Comics

;"Angels 2200":Based on an original concept by Nathaniel Savio, Haynes writes and illustrates this webcomic, a science fiction story is set in the year 2200. The story follows the crew of an old starship and their mission to put down a revolution.
