Shinden Fudo Ryu is a school of
dakentaijutsu andjutaijutsu /jujutsu . Shinden Fudo means "immovable teachings transmitted by the gods." Shinden Fudo Ryu has many body conditioning methods using items found in nature. Like nature, the forms and movements are natural and relaxed. The school also teaches Ono (a very large axe),Otsuchi (a very large hammer), andOdachi (a huge sword). The Ryu may have been founded in the middle of the

For instance, in more modern times Kuki Takei from the Kuki family ofKukishin Ryu studiedShinden Fudo Ryu underToda Shinryuken Masamitsu .Takenaka Tetsunoke , senior student ofKano Jigoro , the founder ofJudo , was at one time a student at theShinden Fudo Ryu dojo also lead byToda Shinryuken Masamitsu .In the year 1895, a British engineer named
Edward William Barton-Wright and a Dutch anthropologist named Herman Ten Kate trained at a Shinden Fudo Ryu dojo inKobe . Barton-Wright went to to incorporate aspects of Shinden Fudo Ryu into his eclectic martial art ofBartitsu .The
