Jim Gordon (February 19, 1927 – February 20, 2003) was a New York-area sportscaster for nearly 40 years. Gordon's career began by working within his local radio station in Syracuse. In 1955, he was hired by Madison Square Garden as a broadcaster, later becoming a news anchorman for WINS, as well as a news director of WABC and WNEW-AM.
Gordon began calling New York sporting events when he was hired by Madison Square Garden in 1955 to be the radio voice of the Rangers and Knicks (eventually being replaced in both positions by Marv Albert). He moved into television coverage in the 1970s and called Ranger games until 1984 when Sam Rosen replaced him. In addition to his work with the Knicks and Rangers, for eighteen seasons Gordon was the radio voice of the New York Giants. From 1977-1994, Gordon called games on both WNEW and WOR alongside Dick Lynch and (later) Karl Nelson. He was fired by the Giants after the 1994 season and replaced by Bob Papa, effectively ending his broadcasting career.
