The 2008 AFC-CAF Challenge Cup is the new edition of the Afro-Asian Cup of Nations, which will take place on the neutral ground of Saudi Arabia in November, 2008. It's a friendly match between 2007 Asian Cup's Champion Iraq and 2008 African Cup of Nations's Champion Egypt under the rule of the UAFA. Originally intended as a friendly match, UAFA decided to make it more than a friendly and reached agreement with both the Iraq Football Association and the Egyptian Football Association to make it an Afro-Asian Cup.

Egypt earned their 2nd successive African Cup of Nations title after beating Cameroon 1-0 in the final, Egypt has the best African record with 5 titles, the 5th title came by a great performance by beating Cameroon 4-2 in the opening match followed by a 3-0 win against Sudan and 1 all tie with Zambia. Having survived the knockout stage, Egypt beat Angola 2-1 in the quarterfinals, and Côte d'Ivoire 3-1 in the semifinals before defeating Cameroon 1-0 in the final.

Iraq were the unexpected winners of the 2007 Asian Cup, defeating Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the final in Jakarta. Although Iraq grouped in the "Group of Death" with the co-Host Thailand , Australia and Oman , Iraq managed to top the group with an amazing win over Australia 3-1 and two ties 1-1 with Thailand and 0-0 with Oman . Iraq is the only team in Asia to face two hosts in one tournament which they did when they won 2-0 against co-Host Vietnam in the quarterfinals, Iraq faced South Korea in the semifinals and eliminated them by PSO 4-3, Finally Iraq won their first title after beating Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the Final.
