Hog Island Wildlife Management Area
- Hog Island Wildlife Management Area
Hog Island Wildlife Management Area is a protected area located in Surry and Isle of Wight Counties, Virginia; it is divided up into three tracts and is 3908 acres in size. Most of the land is near sea level, and is fairly flat and open; there are some pine forests on the property as well, along with tidal marshland and controlled ponds. Little wildlife management has been performed at the site; what there is consists of a dike system to help create native plants as food for wintering waterfowl. Some agricultural crops are also grown in the area for the same purchase. Some timbered areas have been replanted with loblolly pine. Lawnes Creek runs through the property of one of the tracts.
