Rep. Van De Wege also serves on the Joint Committee on Military and Veteran Affairs and is an Assistant Majority Whip. Rep. Van De Wege serves the 24th District with House Majority Leader Rep. Lynn Kessler and Senator Jim Hargrove.Rep. Van De Wege lives in
Sequim with his wife Jennifer, a high school teacher, and their two children, Allison and Jackson. Rep. Seattle in 1974 and grew up in ruralWhatcom County . He worked on both berry and dairy farms throughout his childhood and attended Meridian Schools K-12. During his senior year of high school he joined Whatcom County Fire District #3. After graduating in 1993, Rep. Van De Wege attendedEdmonds Community College where he earned an Associate in Fire Investigation in 1995 and an Associate in Fire Command and Administration in 1996. Also during this time he served as a resident firefighter withSnohomish County Fire District #7. Rep. Van De Wege then started Paramedic School through Northwest Medical Training. During the summer of 1998 he did a paramedic internship inBaton Rouge, LA and became a fully certified paramedic later that fall. Rep. Van De Wege was hired in February of 1999 in his first paid firefighter job as a firefighter/paramedic with theSunnyside, WA Fire Department. He worked there for two years before moving toSequim in 2001. In 2002 he completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science fromWashington State University . This was done through their Distance Degree Program.In 2004, Rep. Van De Wege challenged Rep.
