Stuart A. West (born 11 February 1970, United Kingdom) is a scientist, working in the field of social evolution, as a Professor of Zoology at the University of Edinburgh.

His primary research interests are in the area of social evolution, sex allocation theory and microbial evolution. His research has attracted much media attention [ [http://westgroup.biology.ed.ac.uk/media.html Media.html ] ] , and has been published in high profile journals such as Nature, Science, PNAS and Current Biology.
