Southwestern College (Santa Fe, New Mexico)

Southwestern College located in Santa Fe, NM was founded in 1945 and began as a library featuring a collection of religious and metaphysical books which established the Quimby Memorial Library. American Transcendentalist Phineas Parkhurst Quimby's manuscripts are included within the library's collections.

Dedicated in 1976, Southwestern College founder Dr. Neva Hunter created the college's mission which focuses on an educational environment which is both holistic and innovative. According the the college's website, the mission states: "The College will teach that the power within a person is greater than in the world, that humankind has a sincerity to learn and a willingness to serve and that education must encompass the knowledge of the universe."

The schools faculty come from a wide range of backgrounds and many specialize in areas of art therapy, expressive therapy, music therapy, hospice counseling and psychodrama.

A list of the school's curreny faculty include James M. Nolan, Katherine Ninos, Antonio Nunez, Carol Parker, Deborah Schroder, Janet Schreiber, Constance Buck, Kate Cook, and Robert Waterman.

The schools curriculum offers Master's Degrees in Counseling, Art Therapy, and Counseling with a Concentration in Grief, Loss and Trauma.
