The Landtag of Saarland is the state diet of the German federal state of
Saarland . It convenes inSaarbrücken and currently consists of 51 members of four (or five, see below) Parties. Currently, the Christian Democratic Union holds an absolute majority, supporting the cabinet ofMinister-President Peter Müller.Current Composition

Elections are conducted using a proportional representation system, with a minimum of 5% vote share to receive any seats.
Originally, since the election in 2004, the Alliance '90/The Greens held three seats, but in 2007, Barbara Spaniol, originally a member of the Greens, left the party and became a member of The Left, thus losing her place in the Green faction but not her seat.
