Anglican Bishop who served in two posts [The Times , Thursday, Dec 05, 1963; pg. 5; Issue 55876; col E "Ecclesiastical News Next Bishop Of Southwell, Right Rev. G. D. Savage "] between 1960 and 1970. Born on14 April 1915 he was educated atReading School andSt Catherine's College, Oxford andordained in 1940 [ Who was Who 1987-1990: London,A & C Black , 1991 ISBN 071363457X ] after an earlier career as aLibrarian . His first post was asChaplain ,Lecturer andTutor at "Tyndale Hall, Bristol" after which he was successivelyGeneral Secretary of theChurch Mission Society ,Vicar ofMarston, Oxford [ [http://www.headington.org.uk/history/marston_history/misc/vicars.htm Incumbency details] ] andArchdeacon of Buckingham before elevation to the eponymous Suffragan Bishopric.
