Youth Noise (organization)

Youth Noise is an organization created by a group of adolescents in Jordan for young people who want to "learn more, say more and do more" about the world and their community. It’s about linking children and adolescents to explore, speak out and take action on issues that are important to them and to creating a world fit for children.Youth Noise is guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child as a whole, and in particular by Articles 12, 13 and 29. These three articles are dedicated to ensuring young people’s rights to participate in decision making processes, to express opinions freely, and to be equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to bring about change in their own lives and their communities.

The Youth Noise Story

Inspired in 2003, and founded in Jordan during the summer of 2006 by Zaid Shalhoub, Youth Noise initiates itself as a way for young adults to send messages to world leaders, voicing their views on the concerns of the contemporary world. From the very beginning, Youth Noise is dedicated to making sure young individuals from all countries could "learn more, say more and do more" about the world they live in.
After the contemporary year’s recent affiliation with organizations such as Walk the World, Walk Jordan, and the initiation of various charities for the less fortunate such as the Habitat for Humanity, it came about that an organization that incorporates all of the youth’s efforts would pool together and recognize their talents through a tangible channel and title.
As a result, the concept of Youth Noise came into existence.

Mission Statement

To offer all adolescents a safe and supportive organization within which they can explore, discuss and partner on issues related to human rights and social change, as well as develop their awareness, community building, and critical thinking through active and substantive participation with their peers and with prominent decision making authorities.

Project PEACE

Project PEACE was brought about in the summer of 2006, in cooperation with Jordan Public Relations – a project where Noise made all the difference. PEACE is an annual concert held in Jordan, where all the money that is raised is donated to a specific entity or organization. The parents of this event are Zaid Shalhoub, Ruba Abu Laban, and Sana’ Ibrahim.

2006

In 2006, the first annual PEACE Concert took part during the Eid el Iftar Holiday, on October 24th, in the Citadel Hill. Performers included Massari, DJ Shadia, DJ Fredwreck, The N.O.M.A.D.S, The Philistines, Narcy, and Vengo. Following PEACE the concert was a Charity Gala Dinner where an attendance of over six-hundred individuals of the Jordanian and International Community were present. Raya Khalifeh, a young and talented clothing designer presented her cultural cocktail gowns, each inspired by the flags of Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and Iraq. The gowns were auctioned off for charity. This year all funds were donated to Palestinians, Lebanese, Iraqis and Jordanians in the form of food, medical and basic necessity supplies.
Supporters for the entire PEACE event included: The Jordanian Alliance; Play 99.6 as the official radio; Le Royal Hotel as the official hotel; equipment provided by Pro4; bar and catering, along with after party provided by the Cube Lounge; Octa Magazine holding exclusive media positions; Ring Jordan; Cadillac; ARAMEX Media; Ginseng; Absolut; Chivas Regal; Pepsi; Capital Bank; and Profi-Car.
