The main branch of the Cambridge Public Library is an historic library at 449 Broadway in
Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The library was built in 1888. Its land and full construction funding were provided by Frederick H. Rindge, a Cambridge native and philanthropist. It was added to the National Historic Register in 1982.

A major expansion of the library is currently underway, scheduled for completion in early 2009. Architectural drawings and construction photos are available [http://www.cambridgema.gov/~CPL/booksandmortar/renderings.htm here] . During construction, the library collection has been relocated to the Longfellow School at 359 Broadway.

Six other smaller neighborhood branch libraries are scattered throughout the city of Cambridge.
