Romanesque – gothic Catholic church in Grinava
The church in Grinava has been built on the place of the older Romanesque church. In the beginning of the 14th century people built a gothic church of Saint Žigmund: sanctuary, main aisle and tower. An additional of the aisle is from the end of 14th century, which created the double-aisle. The facade of the church is smooth with 11 pillars. On the sanctuary and the main aisle are original gothic windows, the windows resembling Romanesque windows are on the southern side and the tower. Around the church there is original stone wall. The altar from 1910 is neogothic, in the middle there is a statue of Saint Žigmund. The church is a beautiful medieval architectural monument with many graphical and architectural values.
