Skjern is a town and a former municipality (Danish, "kommune") in
Ringkøbing-Skjern municipality inRegion Midtjylland near the west coast of theJutland peninsula in westDenmark . It was merged with existingEgvad ,Holmsland ,Ringkøbing , andVidebæk municipalities to form the newRingkøbing-Skjern municipality .
