Produced byCourtney Burr , the Broadway production, opened onDecember 7 ,1932 at theSt. James Theatre and then moved to theSelwyn Theatre for a total of 119 performances. The cast starred Bobby Clark,Beatrice Lillie ,Paul McCullough andEvelyn Hoey .The show was only a moderate success but gave us the famous song “April in Paris.” Bea Lillie was the stand-out performer as a 1906 college girl, the belle of the Yukon, a radio songstress, and a French diseuse. Clark and McCullough provided additional humor with their usual outfits and equipment. One of the sketches was a take-off on another show, “
Flying Colors ,” in which Bobby Clark pretended to beClifton Webb and Bea Lillie wasTamara Geva .
