Rosebery School is an all girls comprehensive school located in Epsom, Surrey. It consists of a lower school, for those aged between 11 and 16, and a Sixth Form for those aged between 16 and 18. The school holds Specialist Mathematics and Computing College status.

History

Rosebery School is the product of the amalgamation of Rosebery Grammar School for Girls and Epsom County School for Girls. The school is heavily over subscribed, probably because it is the only girls' state school in the Surrey Educational local authority, and because it achieves high grades (GCSE results of over 80% A-C).

Houses

In September 2007, Rosebery changed from having eight houses; Brookner, Boothroyd, Cooper, Dench, Glennie, Gunnell, Roddick and Sharman, named after famous women, (Anita Brookner, Betty Boothroyd, Helen Cooper, Dame Judi Dench, Evelyn Glennie, Sally Gunnell, Anita Roddick and Helen Sharman) to having four named after precious jewels;

*Ruby
*Sapphire.

Uniform

All girls in the lower school, years 7-11, wear uniform. It is recognised for its kilt and its navy blue jumper with the red primrose on it.

pecialist status

In 2006, Rosebery was awarded a specialist status for Mathematics and ICT. Due to this they installed a 'vle' (a Virtual Learning Environment), which enables the students and staff to post work and information that is available both at school and home.

The most recent inspection incurred on 18/09/2007, and was given high ratings.

Change in Headteachers

In January 2009, Sarah McIntosh is due to take over the role of headteacher from Heather Saunders.
