Kristapor Araratov

Kristapor Gerasimovich Araratov (1876 - 1937) was an Armenian military commander, General (1919), and was the Military Minister of Armenia from March 1919 to April 1920.

Araratov was born in Araratian. He studied in Tbilisi, then at Saint-Petersburg's Mikhailovsky college, the Tsarskoe Selo Officer's school, and at the Military Academy after Frunze. During the First World War he commanded a brigade of the Armenian Separate corps, participated to the Battle of Sardarapat. He died in Nalchik in 1937, a victim of Stalinism.Fact|date=October 2008
