Artistic Records

Artistic Records

Artistic Records was a Chicago record label owned by Eli Toscana and Howard Bedno and run almost entirely by Willie Dixon and was a subidiary label to Cobra Records. It began in 1958 and closed in early 1959 due to Toscanas death which was associated with his gambling debts.

Releases

There were only ever five releases put out on Artistic:

*Charles Clark and Willie Dixon Band - Row Your Boat/Hidden Charms (1958)
*Buddy Guy - Sit And Cry (The Blues)/Try To Quit You Baby (1958)
* Shakey Jake and Willie Dixon Band - Roll Your Money Maker/Call Me If You Need Me (1958)
*Buddy Guy - You Sure Can't Do/This Is The End (1958)
* Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm - (I Know) You Don't Love Me/Down And Out (1959)
