EPG ) was an arts and entertainmenttelevision channel broadcast in theUnited Kingdom , on the Sky Digital platform and in the Republic of Ireland on the ntl/upc cable television platform.The channel was closed down on September 10, 2008 and it had to replaced with
Rock on TV on October 1, 2008.The channel shown a mixture of
jazz , classical music and classic and contemporary pop and rock. Programming includes concerts, recitals, documentaries and star profiles from noted bands, singers and musicians. Music featured includes jazz, classical, rock, pop, blues, soul and funk. The channel also shows repeats of theBBC2 television music show the "Old Grey Whistle Test ".Originally Performance MainStreet broadcasted mainly classic and contemporary rock music in its schedules, in contrast to its defunct sister channel the
Performance Channel which concentrated more onclassical music and jazz. After the closure of the Performance Channel in July 2008, theteleshopping has been removed from the morning schedule and replaced with a mixture of contemporary and classical music programming (teleshopping now only occupies the 12:00-15:00 timeslot).
