Plans for Trillium Circle were first announced in late 2004 by its developpers.cite web |url=http://trilliumcircle.com/news/ABC12com7_8_04.pdf |title=Trillium Circle expected in Grand Blanc |accessdate=2008-05-28 |last=Carr |first=Jason |date=2004-07-08 |work=ABC 12] A site was chosen for the property, on Holly Road south of Grand Blanc itself. At the time, the only other business operating nearby was a grocery store called Colony Market, a
Spartan Stores affiliate. This grocery store was to have been replaced with a newer Colony Market, convert|40000|sqft|m2 in size, which would have been incorporated into the Trillium Circle development itself; however, Colony Market closed its store in March 2006, and its property was sold to the developers of Trillium Circle. Development has been slow, due mainly to struggling economy in the state of Michigan. In late 2007, a 14-screen
IMAX movie theater owned by NCG Cinemas was opened, [cite web |url=http://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?section=news/local&id=5698734 |title=More new shops coming to Grand Blanc area |accessdate=2008-05-28 |last=Franklin |first=Matt |date=2007-10-09 |work=ABC 12] followed in March 2008 by the 500th location for theMinneapolis, Minnesota -basedBuffalo Wild Wings restaurant chain.
