- Ike Isaacs (guitarist)
Ike Isaacs (December 1, 1919 – January 11, 1996) was a
jazz guitarist born inRangoon ,Burma , best known for his work withStephane Grappelli .Isaacs was an
autodidact , and started playing professionally while he was achemistry student at university. In 1946 he moved toEngland , where he freelanced for many years; he played in theBBC Show Band, as well as withGeorge Chisholm (1956) andBarney Kessel (1968). In the 1960s and 1970s he played withStephane Grappelli extensively, including withDiz Disley 's Hot Club of London. Isaacs played withDigby Fairweather ,Len Skeat , andDenny Wright in the group Velvet in the 1970s as well.Isaacs moved to
Australia in the 1980s, where he taught at theSydney Guitar School .References
