Saints Cosmo and Damian are early Christian martyrs who were killed during the persecutions of Christians under the Roman emperor Diocletian in about 283 A.D. They were brothers born in Arabia. Both men became doctors who practiced at Egaea in Cilicia, but did not accept money for their services. Because they were so well known in the community, they were prominent targets for persecution. They are the patron saints of pharmacists. [ [http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=216 Catholic Online] ]
