"La Reina de la Noche" "(The Queen of the Night)" is a dance-pop song by Venezuelan singer Mayré Martínez and the first single from her forthcoming studio album, it was released in her official website on May 25 2008.

The song is the highly anticipated track from Martínez, ever since she parted ways with her previous label Sony BMG, it was written by William Luque (responsable for Menudo's and Chenoa's hits), produced by Jesús Sanchez, and it samples Mozart's opera The Magic Flute. The lyrics and music are also partly based on the character "The Queen of the Night" from the same opera, and it marks a complete change from Mayre's typical pop ballad and tropical songs to a futuristic dance style.

In reference to the new album and the first single, Mayré Martinez said:

Musically and lyrically, "La Reina de la Noche" is reminiscing of songs like "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, "Strong Enough" by Cher, and "Todos Me Miran" by Gloria Trevi, which narrates the story of a person wanting to break free and finally being able to do it, without caring what other people think.

Promotion

During the month of July, Martínez was a guest in two Globovisión shows, the just-for-teenagers news show "Emisión Juvenil" and in the late night talk show "Sábado en la Noche", where she commented about her status with the new single and the upcoming album, she also performed live in a famous mall in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. The music video, produced by her own production company Mayré Martínez Producciones, was released on September 15 2008, the music video present Mayre singing with a large black dress and as a constructor girl. Mayré also will perform during the third season finale of Latin American Idol, which is set to air live in Sony Entertainment Television on October 9, and is expected to be watched by more than 250 millions of people.
