Volleyball at the 1988 Summer Olympics - Women's volleyball

The 1988 Women's Olympic Volleyball Tournament was the seventh edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee. The competition in Seoul, South Korea was held from September 20 to September 29, 1988.

Qualification

South Korea qualified as the host nation, PR China as the defending world champion. East Germany (Europe), Japan (Asia), United States (Norceca) and Peru (South America) were the continental representants. The Soviets won the Olympic Qualifier in 1988, where Brazil finished in second place. The South American team earned the right to start after the Cubans withdrew.
