Wincenty Okołowicz [IPA-pl|w|i|n|'|c|e|n|t|y|-|'|o|k|o|ł|o|w|i|cz] (1906-1979) was a Polish geographer who specialized in
climatology andgeomorphology . He is the author of the major Polish classification of world'sclimate s.Born July 26, 1906 in a small village of Boków, he was professor at the
Warsaw University since the year 1954. 1953-1959 he was a director of "Państwowy Instytut Hydrologiczno-Meteorologiczny" ("State Hydrological and Meteorological Institute").1956-1959 he was a vice-chairman of a
Polish Academy of Sciences 's Commission that concerned The International Geophysical Year. He is the author of a map of climatic spheres (1965) as well as the first Polish textbook for climatology ("Klimatologia ogólna", 1969).Okołowicz died September 3, 1979 in
