Herzog August Bibliothek (germ. Die Herzog-August-Bibliothek, „HAB“) in
Wolfenbüttel , (Niedersachsen ), known also as "„Herzog August Bibliothek“", and "„Bibliotheca Augusta“", it has an international importance for its collection fromMiddle Ages andEarly modern Europe . The library subordinated for the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture. The HAB cooperates with the international college of scientifics.History
The library was founded by Julius von Herzog (1528 - 1589) for
Brunswick-Lüneburg , in1572 . In 17th century it was biggest library in the North ofAlps , and was called eight Wonder of the World.In 2006 the library housed c. 900.000 books, 350.000 of them from 15th to 18th century.
