Cemmaes

Cemmaes

Cemmaes is a village in southern Gwynedd, north-west Wales. The alternative Welsh language name is Aberangell, which comes from "Aber" - confluence and "Angell" - the name of the river.

The population numbered 935 in 1841, this dropped sharply between 1881 and 1891 from 946 to 729. [cite web|url=http://website.lineone.net/~dyfival1/demographics.htm|title="Dyfi Valley Demographics"]

There was a train station in the village which connected the Mawddwy Railway to the main Cambrian Line. The Hendre-Ddu Tramway also connected to the railway at the village.
