Australian Military Forces

The Australian Military Forces (AMF) was the official name of the Army of Australia from 1916 onwards [http://www.awm.gov.au/atwar/structure/one_army.htm] . This encompassed both regular (full-time) and militia or Citizens Military Forces (part-time). Initially this also included the Australian Flying Corps as part of the Australian Imperial Forces until the formation of the Royal Australian Air Force in 1921 [http://www.awm.gov.au/atwar/structure/raaf.htm] . The land forces of Australia were renamed the Australian Army in 1980 [http://www.awm.gov.au/atwar/structure/one_army.htm] .
