Tokiva

Tokiva is the first software virtual network operator (SVNO) for global expat community. Tokiva has a subscriber base of 800,000 world-wide (as of May 26th 2008).

Expat communities consist of business travelers, migrant workers, overseas students, and people who stay in another country or culture for an extended period of time. Based on a recent OECD study, global expat communities have a collective population of 450 million, roughly the size of the total population of the European Union.

Tokiva SVNO platform enables voice and messaging services for the expat communities, both online and on mobile. The services include :

Call termination	-	call to any land line or mobile number in the world.
Zero cost roaming	-	pay no roaming charges.
Conference call	-	speak to several parties at the same time.
Voice mail	-	send and receive voice mails.
Follow me	-	manage multiple SIM cards and numbers.
"Messaging Services"
Mobile Email	-	access corporate or web emails.
Group SMS	-	send and receive group SMS.
International SMS	-	send and receive international SMS.
"Presence"
Peer Awareness	-	share calendar, photo, and location.

In April 2008, Tokiva won "Mobile Monday 2008 Startup Peer Award" in Beijing.

Tokiva received fundings from BrainsToVentures, a Zurich based venture investment firm. Other investors are angel investors in the US, Canada, Europe, and China, including William Bao Bean, a partner with Softbank China India Holdings, a venture fund backed by Softbank of Japan and Cisco Systems in the US.

Tokiva was founded in October 2006 by Tong Li and Qianfei Wang, technology entrepreneurs who are from China originally and educated and worked in the US and Canada. Tokiva is headquartered in Toronto with offices in Beijing, China.
