Canada-Wide Science Fair

The Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) is an annual science fair in Canada held by the [http://www.ysf-fsj.ca Youth Science Foundation of Canada] . It is the highest level of competition in Canada, and approximately 400 projects and 450 students are judged at the fair. Finalists must qualify from approximately 25,000 competitors at regional science and technology fairs (or, in the province of Quebec, the provincial science fair) throughout Canada.

Competition is split into seven divisions: Automotive Sciences, Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Computing and Information Technology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences; and three age categories: Junior for grades 7 and 8, Intermediate for grades 9 and 10, and Senior for grades 11 and 12.

CWSF 2005 was held at the University of British Columbia campus in Vancouver, and CWSF 2006 was held in Saguenay, Quebec at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. The recent CWSF 2007 was held in Truro, Nova Scotia. CWSF 2008 will be held in Ottawa, Ontario, and CWSF 2009 may be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, though this is still to be confirmed. CWSF 2010 will be held in Peterborough, Ontario.
