- Clarendon Grill
The [http://cgrill.com/ Clarendon Grill] (know as the "C-Grill" to locals) is an American-style restaurant in the Clarendon section of Arlington, Virginia. It is a very popular night spot as [http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?node=cityguide/profile&id=795974 reviewed by the Washington Post.]
History
The [http://cgrill.com/ Clarendon Grill] was founded in 1947 as a casual eatery to serve the residents of Arlington, Virginia. It is said to have been frequented by Republican Joseph W. Martin, and while it originally served only food, over the years it gradually expanded and added both a bar and live music on Saturday nights.
Most significant, in 2001 the C-Grill added [http://cgrill.com/apps.htm lunch specials] , which proved to be especially popular.
Lunch Specials
The C-Grill lunch specials include a sandwich, side dish, and drink. The most popular are the "Jackhammer" burger with french fries, and the turkey club. Although the
Coke has generally been more popular as a lunch beverage, theSprite is starting to make headway. The lunch period "does not" include live music. This is fortunate, as [http://cityguides.msn.com/restaurants/browse.aspx?category=113&where=washingtondc anecdotal reports] indicate that the evening music is too loud.
ervice
Lunch service is generally not too fast, especially if a new waitress is on duty. This is odd since the restaurant is not terribly busy during lunch. Fortunately, the relaxed, quiet environment makes this tolerable, although people have been known to get hungry while waiting.
Evening service follows a more
Lord of the Flies style. With the crowds packed in, food or beverages become available only to those who force their way to the bar to make an in-person request. This fact, however, has not diminished the Grill's appeal to the evening crowd, nor has it in any way reduced the fequency with which discussions ofLouis XIV take place on premises.External links
