Entriken

Entriken

Entriken (sometimes Entrekin) is a surname, suspected to have come from Scotland and/or Ireland however details of the exact origin of the name are vague. Entrikens are currently known to inhabit mainly in Pennsylvania and Australia. Large numbers of Entrikens were born in Antrim, Ireland and migrated to Chester, PA. A large number of Entrikens live in Queensland, Australia. One Caleb S. Entriken was born in Pennsylvania in 1768, accounting for the earliest known record of the name. The earliest record of an Entriken in Australia was Francis Robert Entriken, born 1868 in Rockhampton, Queensland.

The first recorded Entrikens (or Entrekins) were Samuel and George. George joined the Quakers, renowned record keepers, whereas Samuel did not; and he went under the spelling of Entrekin. Electoral documents account for Moses and Elizabeth Entriken in Scotland in 1851, and Entrikens in Kennedy, Australia as early as the 1930's. England and Wales also held Entrikens (or Entricans) in the mid 1800's.

Entrikens in Australia were believed to have began as graziers for many generations, and even today some still are. However, most Entrikens have moved into small or large cities and occupations include: lawyers, engineers, navy personnel and physiotherapists. [ [http://www.ancestry.com.au ancestry.com.au] ]
