COASIN Chile is a Chilean information technology services and solutions company. The COASIN Group is a conglomerate of companies that offer ICT services as outsourcing, integrally and vertically, to all industries.

With over 40 years of experience and offices in Chile, Canada, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Peru, COASIN Group is made up of six companies: COASIN Business Solutions, COASIN Global Services, C2 Mining Solutions, COASIN Labs, COASIN Instalaciones, and recently, COASIN Energy.

Its services include system integration, managed services, software development, software testing, communication technology and outsourcing. COASIN has over 20 offices located throughout Chile as well as offices in Peru, Argentina, Costa Rica, Canada and the USA, revenues of over USD 80 million and more than 1,800 employees.

History

  • 1966 COASIN Chile was founded. Its main focus was to provide industrial and scientific tools.
  • 1970’s COASIN transforms itself into an information technology company.
  • 1980’s COASIN enters the telecommunication market with modems and installing packed networks. COASIN also starts opening branch offices in Chile.
  • 1990’s COASIN focuses on digital networks, opens 19 regional offices, expands into 8 Latin American countries simultaneously and focuses their core business on Value Added Services.
  • 1996 51% of COASIN is acquired by NewBridge Networks and begins its internationalization process.
  • 2000 COASIN becomes 100% Chilean once again.
  • 2002 Original COASIN owners buy back the company from Alcatel and start focusing on services
  • COASIN forms a strategic alliance with CISCO, the most important Networking company in the world.
  • 2004 COASIN achieves ISO9001-2000 certification and supported by a Network Operations Center, COASIN Chile starts providing network infrastructure, logistics, applications and external services monitoring.
  • 2007 COASIN opens a Software development and Testing Facility focused on Offshoring services. COASIN software factory takes advantage of technologies such as Java (Java EE), SOA, .NET, XML and Web Services.
  • COASIN forms COASIN Installations to provide outsourcing and field services
  • 2008 COASIN spins off its mining division and creates a new company C2 Mining Solutions which provides solutions for the mining industry, including information, communication, and automation technologies.
  • 2008 COASIN creates Global Services and enters the North American market offering World Class Technologies from offices in Canada and the USA.
  • 2009 January: COASIN creates COASIN Labs, an R&D center to create new intellectual property. June: COASIN acquires 45% of SOLEM engineering, a chilean service company that provides biometric identification for travel documents, transactional platforms and business management. July: C2 Mining solutions opens an office in Peru and begins providing services to Peruvian mining industry. September: COASIN creates COASIN Energy to respond to global demand for efficient energy solutions.[clarification needed] November: COASIN acquires 30% of COGNOSOFT, a chilean company focused on knowledge management in the ICT area.
  • 2010 COASIN Group certifies their Quality Management System under ISO 9001:2008; their Environmental Management System under ISO 14001: 2004 and their Occupational Safety and Health System under OHSAS 18001:2007.[citation needed] April: COASIN acquires 40% of Gesintel, a chilean firm that develops solutions for managing financial risk and Business Intelligence.
