The 2009 FIM Sidecarcross world championship will start on 29 March and finish after nine race weekends on 13 September 2009.

Overview

The 2009 season is the 30st edition of the sidecarcross world championship.

The nine races of the season will be held in nine countries, Switzerland, France, Ukrain, Netherlands, Belgium, Latvia, Estonia, Russia and Germany. It will be the first time since 2001, that the championship will return to the traditional sidecarcross nation of Switzerland. Russia will be on the calendar only for the second time, the previous race having been held in Moscow in 2004. Format

Every Grand Prix weekend is split into two races, both held on the same day. This means, the 2009 season with its nine Grand Prix has 18 races. Each race lasts for 30 minutes plus two rounds. The two races on a weekend actually get combined to determined an overall winner. While this overall winners receives no extra WC points, they usually are awarded a special trophy.
