Apple's Font Book is a font manager that comes with Mac OS X since version 10.3 (Panther).

The program enables users to:
* Preview and install font files, avoiding multiple instances of the same font.
* Review installed fonts using various sample texts and sizes.
* Group fonts into collections, which can then be used in all Cocoa programs.
* Activate/deactivate individual fonts or collections.
* Check the data integrity of font files.
* Export font collections for use on another computer

New Fonts

A feature of Font Book is that users can download new fonts and install them. There are many sites in which this can be done. Once the new font is downloaded it can be loaded and used by Font Book.

Criticism

Apple's Font Book faced some criticism regarding an inability to validate and auto-activate fonts.
