History

KJQS began as KMUR in the 1960s, airing contemporary hits, which switched to adult contemporary with the call sign switch to KMOR. From its sign on, the studios and transmitter were located in a field west of I-15 near 4900 South but were torn down later to make way for an indoor amusement park. The station went back on the air as KLAF on 1983-06-22 carrying a comedy format. On 1986-04-15, the station changed its call sign to KOLC, airing contemporary hits again. On 1986-04-30 the station changed again to KMGR, and on 1997-07-11 to KWUN (a talk radio format station) before going silent. On 2001-11-01, the station returned to air, with the the current KJQS calls.
