In the 1970s, the station was known as KWHO, and carried
classical music . The station operated during the day only. On November 15, 1990, the station changed its calls to KCNR. On August 11, 1992, the station changed its call sign again to KLZX. On January 23, 1995, it changed again to KAPN and on September 20, 1996 back to KCNR. On March 3, 1999, the station changed to KBEE and on July 5, 2004 to the current KKAT.
