Timothy Green Hendryx (
January 31 ,1891 -August 14 ,1957 ) was a utilityoutfielder inMajor League Baseball who played with four different teams between the 1911 and 1921 seasons. Listed at 5' 9", 170 lb., Hendryx batted and threwright-handed . He was born inLe Roy, Illinois . A good defensive outfielder and strictly a line-drive hitter, Hendrix entered the majors in 1911 with theCleveland Indians , playing for them two consecutive years before joining theNew York Yankees (1915-1917), St. Louis Browns (1918) andBoston Red Sox (1920-1921). In 1917, for the Yankees, he recorded 215 outs and 17 assists in a career-high 125 games. His most productive season came with the 1920 Red Sox, when he posted a .328batting average with 54 runs and 73 RBI –all career numbers–, while appearing in 99 games. In an eight-season career, Hendryx was a .276 hitter (356-for-1291) with sixhome run s and 192 RBI in 416 games, including 152 runs, 68 doubles, 22 triples, 26stolen base s, and a .372on-base percentage . A hard-to-strikeout hitter, he posted a solid 1.53 BB/K (185-to-128). He made 360 outfield appearances atcenter field (184), right (147) and left (30), and also played three games as athird baseman . Hendryx died inCorpus Christi, Texas at age 66.ources
